Basketball Wives” is the culmination of an idea and a dream that I’ve had for years. Putting the idea on paper, pitching it to VH-1, selecting the cast members and receiving such a wonderful response from our audience has reminded me that you can be successful when you take the necessary steps and believe in yourself.

As we prepare for the second season, I look back and hope that the viewers have a better understanding of what life is like when you’re in a relationship with an NBA player, or any high profile person for that matter. While the lifestyle does provide access to money, travel, and so many other amazing opportunities, it, like most things, comes with a price. And we, like everyone else, desire respect, peace and above all else, to be happy.

While there was obviously drama on the show, I hope it also showed some of the ways in which we were there for each other. Our circumstances, which can range from dealing with infidelity, moving from city to city, or trying to insure that our children have a semblance of normalcy under the glare of the spotlight bind us. But also the fact that we are women and we know what it’s like to love harder than you ever thought you could and to experience the ups and downs of trying to maintain a successful relationship.

I truly hope that season two of Basketball Wives will give our viewers the opportunity to see more of who we are as individuals and the things that really make us tick. As executive producer of the show, this experience has allowed me to grow as a businesswoman and I’ve learned there are so many challenges, professionally and otherwise, that I can face head on and overcome. I also believe that the other women have evolved by going out on a limb and allowing the cameras to capture not only their strengths and successes, but also their stumbles and vulnerability.
