Freida Pinto looked stunningly beautiful in a flowy, silk green gown when she hit the red carpet for the premiere of her new film Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

Freida has been making her rounds to gear up for the release of the action packed blockbuster that hits theaters this Friday.

Freida plays the primatologist to the chimp Caesar. While she may play alongside a chimp, she is far from a furry creature.

We sat down with Freida to find out if the franchise movie met her expectations.

What convinced you to sign on for this film?

The script was beautiful but when it was sent to me it was just before, I think two weeks before it was to start filming and I read it and it was heartbreaking … it had soul.

And that was very important to me because I think with big budget films it tends to lose that soul. So it definitely had it for me and I was very happy that I was going to be a part of that type of film.

But of course there’s a top class team on board. There’s Andy Serkis, there’s Andrew Lesnie, there’s James Franco. All of that … that was my expectation … Danny Boyle said one of the most amazing things to me: ‘Just have fun with it while you’re filming. Whatever happens after that, you can’t really seal that fate.’

How was the experience filming? And what was it like seeing the film for the first time?

The experience was fantastic. It definitely was amazing when I saw it, but I didn’t have any expectations while I was filming it. I just wanted to have a good time. Moreover I think that CGI and motion-capture, it was my first time ever, so I had no idea when I was petting the air what I was doing. I was just doing it because I was asked to do it. It was actually fantastic working with Andy because, I was just telling him this morning that every twitch, every body movement that he did, which at that point in time (during filming) I was wondering why he was doing it, completely made sense when I saw the film two nights ago. So I guess in that sense, yeah it’s ten times wilder than I thought it was going to be!”
