The brother and sister robbery trio known as the Dougherty Gang has captivated America, after being on the run for a week and a half.

Ryan Edward Dougherty, Dylan Dougherty Stanley and Lee Grace E. Dougherty make up the Dougherty Gang, who led authorities on a 2,000-mile, cross-country chase from Florida, which ended in a shootout with police on a Colorado interstate.

STORY: Meet The Bank Robbing Stripper

The Dougherty Gang got their start in Zephyrhills, Fla. when they were stopped by a local police officer who attempted to pull over their white Subaru for going 15 mph over the speed limit.

Instead, the trio sped off, leading to a five mile interstate shootout. They didn’t kill the officer, but just took out one of his front tires, ending the chase.

Hours later, two masked men and a woman robbed a bank in Valdosta, Ga. unloading automatic weapons.

So why all the fascination with the Dougherty Gang?

Simple, their tale is something straight out of a movie, they are being compared to Bonnie and Clyde and have even picked up fan support with Facebook pages dedicated to them. The trio even made the FBI’s Most Wanted List, adding more clout to their outlaw personas.

But the most appealing aspect of the Dougherty Gang is the baby of the bunch, Lee Grace E. Dougherty, the sexy girl with the gun.

The allure of the Dougherty Gang is Grace, the one referred to as the “former exotic dancer” and that may explain all the fanfare given to the bank robbing trio.

It’s always sexy and glamorous when a woman is branded an outlaw, especially if she’s a looker.

Taken from her Flickr profile Grace says:

“I’m 28 but act like I’m 17 most of the time. I love to farm and shoot guys and wreck cars. I’m a redneck and proud of it. I like milk and German engineering and causing mayhem with my siblings.”

Truer words have never been spoken; Grace is the real McCoy.

When the trio was stopped on that Colorado interstate, Grace ran through a dusty Colorado field with a Walsenberg police officer on her back. She tried to turn and shoot but it was too late, a bullet from the officer’s gun had already pierced her leg and that was the end of the Dougherty Gang.

Take a look at some pictures of Grace in all her glory.
