Everyone has a purpose in life and what is most important is finding your calling and dedicating your life to realizing your dream.

For me, I have known that I wanted to be a fashion designer since I was 9 years old. Fashion has always been my creative outlet where I have the freedom to express myself.

Fashion is personal, and style is individual. As a designer, I find that as long as I believe in my vision, others will believe in it too.

EXCLUSIVE: Inside Angela’s Real Reality

With that said, I have recently had the honor of working as an apprentice to fashion designer Rachel Roy. I admire her success in the industry, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to learn from her.

Through her guidance, I have been given insight into both the triumphs and hardships that designers face throughout their career. By seeing the industry through her eyes, I have learned the importance of balancing my creative aspirations with a business-minded approach. She has found the kind of success that I hope to have one day.

I have studied and followed fashion for years, but after just one day with Rachel Roy, I discovered that you never stop learning in fashion.

In her words, “the more you learn, the more you realize you didn’t know anything at all.” Fashion is an industry that is constantly evolving, and as a designer it is my responsibility to adapt to change while staying true to myself.

Being in Rachel’s office today triggered something inside of me. I observed everything around me today, while I sat in several meetings with her and walked through her showroom, and I felt so grateful to be there. I am so impressed by what she and her brand represent. I can only hope to make the same impact in the fashion industry that she has.

My apprenticeship with Rachel Roy will continue over the next three days, and I am so excited to take in as much as I can. Stay tuned to read about the rest of my experience!
