Where there’s smoke there’s fire and in the case of Aisha Khan, it’s a burning inferno.

The 19-year-old Olathe, KS college student who had been missing since last Friday was found and as it turns out she wasn’t abducted as many thought.

STORY: Hip Hip Hooray! Missing College Student Aisha Khan FOUND!

Aisha, a student at Johnson County Community College, was studying in Overland Park on the University of Kansas Edwards Campus before she vanished about 11 a.m. on December 16th.

Aisha had called her sister and said she slapped a drunken man who was harassing her and tried to kiss her. Aisha’s sister drove to the campus to pick up Khan and found her sister’s book bag and cell phone.

Police spoke with Aisha and an Overland Park spokesman said that she was never held against her will while she was missing close to a week.

So what’s the deal? The family spokesman is being extremely tight lipped about the ordeal. Family friend Aamer Trambu spoke at an 11:30 p.m. news conference and said:

“Our prayers have been answered, the family is very, very ecstatic about this. The fact is, she’s alive, she’s well. We believe our prayers have been answered.”

Trambu said he could not answer questions about how Khan was found, he said: “We do not have enough information yet, and we cannot tell you anymore.”

Even the police aren’t getting info from Aisha. Sean Reilly, the Overland Park police spokesman said he did not have information about where Khan was, while relatives, friends and police officers searched for her the last six days.

And the Overland Park Police won’t pursue any criminal charges against Aisha after her disappearance.

So where in god’s name was she, did she sneak off to have an affair?

I mean Facebook and Twitter pages were made in efforts to finding Aisha, her cousin went on the Nancy Grace show pleading for her to be found and when she finally was found, there’s no explanation about where she’s been the last six days?

There’s something eery about Aisha’s case, it’s almost as if it were an elaborate hoax. Believe me, I’m happy she was found safe, but in most cases when a person’s been missing for six days, the outcome is usually tragic.

In Arizona, 5-year-old Jhessye Shockley went missing on Oct. 11th and today it was revealed by Tempe police her body was discarded in a dumpster and may be in a local landfill.

So missing persons cases don’t always have a happy ending. Who knows, maybe it was a big misunderstanding that was blown way out of proportion by overly concerned family?

Either way, there are still questions that need to be answered.
