In Michigan, 9-year-old Kathleen Edwards has died of Huntington’s disease – she was also an unfortunate victim of cyber bullying.

Huntington’s disease is a hereditary disease that attempts to completely ravage the brain and has no cure.

Before her death, Kathleen was bullied on Facebook by her neighbor who posted a picture of her on Facebook showing her eyes closed with crossbones on her face.

The woman was dealt with appropriately when members of the community demanded she face criminal charges. She is currently going through the legal system.

According to the Detroit Free Press, Kathleen’s mother died of the same disease in 2009. Kathleen’s grandmother, Rebecca Rose, spoke on the final departure of her granddaughter saying

“We whispered in her ear and told her go be with your mommy. She really did have this glow about her. She really looked like an angel lying there, and she opened her eyes and took her last breath. She suffered with this disease for a while and she never complained… She was also happy, always smiling. I didn’t want her to suffer anymore. Now she’s with her mother. That’s the only consolation in this whole thing is now she’s with her mother.”

This is a very sad situation. Our condolences go out to the family and friends of Kathleen.
