Turns out that the NYPD is watching these days, especially if you’re Muslim!
Since 2007, the NYPD has been conducting surveillance operations on Muslim mosques in Newark, NJ, collecting the license plates of worshippers, monitoring them on surveillance cameras and cataloging sermons through a network of informants otherwise known as “mosque crawlers.”
Not only did the NYPD spy on Muslim residents from Newark, but they also kept a close eye on Muslim student associations across the Northeast.
They tracked students’ websites and blogs daily, monitoring who was speaking to the groups and sending undercover officers on rafting trips with students from the City College of New York.
These latest tactics are nothing new from the NYPD; in the last couple of weeks it was revealed that they also spied on and sent informants to gather information about Rev. Al Sharpton.
If the NYPD are keeping tabs on Muslims and notable figures like Al Sharpton, who’s to say that they aren’t keeping tabs on some of our most prominent Muslim celebrities?
