Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen recently received the CFDA award for Womenswear Designers of the Year, but PETA will not be one to congratulate them.

The Olsen Twins released a very expensive patchwork backpack – retail price is $16,900 – but PETA isn’t really concerned with the price tag. The backpack, part of The Row’s 2012 fall collection, is made of patches of animal fur.

PETA is not impressed with the bag or the Olsens as designers, calling them the “Trollsen Twins.” They released a statement to E! News saying:

“If it looks like a troll and acts like a troll, it’s probably a Trollsen Twin—or someone wearing one of their new $16,000 totes, which are made from the fur and skins of innocent animals. What the Olsens lack in creativity, they try to make up for in shock value. Sadly, it’s the foxes, calves, and alligators—who often have the fur ripped off them while they are still conscious and able to feel pain—who pay the dearest price.”

Maybe the twins should keep fur out of their collections so they won’t have to worry about possibly being flour-bombed at their next red carpet event!
