From the after parties to the podium, dozens of big name celebrities hung out and showed up in support of the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina this week.

Thursday night’s coverage also featured speeches from some of Hollywood’s most cherished A-listers, including Kerry Washington and Scarlett Johansson, who have been working behind the scenes on the Obama campaign for awhile now.

Actress/activist Kerry Washington talked about her commitment to the 2012 Obama campaign: 

In more than 5,000 homes, friends and neighbors have gathered for online watch parties. They are committed to this campaign. Together we will re-elect President Obama.

Actress/activist Scarlett Johansson used her celebrity to advocate on behalf of the President:

Actress and Obama campaign co-chairwoman Eva Longoria attacked Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney’s tax plan, which would give her as a well-off Hollywood actress a tax break that she does not need.  

The Eva Longoria who worked at Wendy’s flipping burgers — she needed a tax break. But the Eva Longoria who works on movie sets does not.
