New details have emerged that support the claim that Dallas Cowboy’s nose tackle Josh Brent was drunk when he flipped his Mercedes and killed teammate and friend Jerry Brown last month.

Authorities say they found an unopened bottle of cognac liquor while searching the car after the accident. They also found multiple receipts and an iPad and cell phone belonging to Brent, which had details about his night at the club Privae Dallas.

When Brent was tested, police discovered that his blood-alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit, 0.189 percent, which is over the Texas limit of 0.08 percent.

Brent, 24, was also driving over the speed limit and on an expired driver’s license from Illinois, where he pleaded guilty to driving under the influence just three years prior. He faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.

In a sad twist of events, an autopsy of Jerry Brown, 25, revealed that he had a BAC of 0.056, which indicates he was sober before his death.

Wow, the irony. We continue to pray for the Brown family.
