New details are emerging in the case involving a 15-year-old teenager who shot his entire family to death that suggest that he was motivated to do so because he was “frustrated with his mother.”

Nehemiah Griego, 15, is accused of killing his parents Greg and Sarah Griego, along with 9-year-old Zephania, 5-year-old Jael and 2-year-old Angelina. In a press conference today, police told media that Griego will be treated as an adult in court.

According to the Daily Mail:

The 15-year-old pastor’s son told police the gruesome story of how he killed his mother because he was ‘annoyed with’ his mother, and then went on to shoot dead his three younger siblings before taking an AR-15 assault rifle and waiting for hours until his father arrived home so that he could kill him too.

Griego told police that the shot to his mother’s head woke up his 9-year-old brother Zephania, who did not believe their mother was dead after Griego told him so.

It is reported that Griego then did the following:

“…picked up his mother’s head to show his brother her bloody face.”

In the press conference, it was also revealed that Griego’s father may have taught him how to shoot guns.

Bernalillo County Sheriff Dan Houston says murder suspect Nehemiah Griego learned to shoot from his father, and the two often went shooting together with guns that were not kept locked up in the home.

Griego admitted that there would have been more deaths in a chilling note he wrote for police.

“…telling police that ‘after killing five of his family members he reloaded the weapons so that he could drive to a populated area to murder more people.’

He said that he expected that he would be killed in a firefight that would likely ensue when he tried to kill others.”

He also admitted to police that he was having homicidal and suicidal thoughts.

Before he was arrested, he told police that he had come home to find his family had been killed and that he drove to the church with rifles in the trunk of the van in order to protect himself from the attacker.

We will pray for the souls lost in this senseless violent act. This story is developing.
