Most people who are in the know know all about Trinidad Jame$’ “All Gold Everything.” But on his latest joint “$outh$ide” he has this kid ForteBowie who actually spits the hottest verse. Well this week Forte dropped his own song “Gucci Mane” that’s guaranteed to be a ringer in the clubs all throughout the south. It’s another one of these ATL Future/Ca$hOut sounding sing along rap records. But ForteBowie can actually sing and what he’s saying on this is very catchy.

Hip Hop continues it’s international crusade. Next stop: Toronto for hot new shit from Dra…sike!. The Airplane Boys prove that Drizzy isn’t the only singer/rapper coming from the T Dot that has bars and sing along hooks. These two MC mix hypersonic flows with great music as they spit about past female dealings. If you’re a fan then you know this has been their MO from day one. Their new mixtape Brave New World drops later this month. Stay Tuned…

Who is Ricky Blaze? He’s a multitalented young bruh from Brooklyn who has lent his production skills to hot records like Gyptian’s smash “Hold You.” Listen to this new ish, “Kill ‘Em” featuring Dip Set Legend Jim Jones. Blaze has had a few dope records out these last few years. “Kill ‘Em” is no different but hopefully there’s more music to come. His style is a combination of hip-hop, R&B and dancehall. Hopefully we’ll hear more from young Blaze in 2013.  [pagebreak]

I overheard a group of ladies talking the other day, asking each other what happened to the soul in R&B music. I guess they hadn’t heard this new music from TGT, “Sex Never Felt Better.” While TGT sounds like some super fast sports coupe, it’s actually new R&B super group Tank, Ginuwine and Tyrese. These cats are definitely on the ol’ school circuit but if you know anything about R&B you know about these dudes. Tyrese and Ginuwine killed it in the 90’s. The Chris Breezy and ‘Ne-Yo-after-he-went-club’ fans won’t appreciate this brand of crooning to the ladies. But “Sex Never Felt Better” is definitely refined with soul.

[pagebreak] One of my favorite new R&B singers, BJ the Chicago, returns this week to drop his latest offering “Honey.” BJ’s smooth style reminds me so much of D Angelo but it’s his signature Chi Town drawl and soulful approach to his music that sets him apart from the rest right now. On “Honey” he takes a few pages from Total and The Bee Gee’s on his hook when he sings “Baby I Can’t Figure It Out…Your Kisses Taste Like Honey.” Whether your booed up during this weekend’s snowstorm in the North East or laid out on Miami south beach, this is that SET IT OFF hump music indeed.

Until We Read Again.
