Welcome back Weekend Warrior!

The work week is over and we have got some great things for you to do to help you forget about the week that just passed or the one coming up.  In today’s installment we are focusing on a few great things that you can do in Puerto Rico.  Check it out below.

Visit El Castillo de San Felipe del Morro

More commonly known as El Morro, this stone garrison is the second-oldest freestanding fort in the Americas. Built between 1539 and 1797 by Spanish settlers on a rock-strewn promontory at the entrance of the San Juan Bay, it’s a hulking pile of turrets, towers, walls, barracks, and dungeons that are wonderful to explore. A combination pass buys entry to both El Morro and Castillo San Cristóbal, another fort on the northeast edge of Old San Juan; it’s larger than El Morro and usually less crowded.

Visit La Fortaleza

Puerto Rican governors have resided in this structure (originally a fort) since 1543, though it wasn’t named the governor’s official residence until 1822. In fact, it’s the Western Hemisphere’s oldest executive mansion that’s still in use. Tours of the building’s first floor, including the chapel, dungeon, and the gardens, are given on a daily basis. For inside access, take the hour-long VIP tour, which goes onto the second floor through the ancient throne room, audience halls, and governor’s office (yes, you might meet him). Special tours must be arranged in advance through a written request. Call for more details.

Disconnect Land Line If Possible:

Unless you have small kids in the house or older people to take care of, it is more than likely that you will be able to survive with only the mobile phones and can get rid of the land line. We have survived with out a land line for over 4 years now without any problems. Our Internet comes via cable.
