When it comes to pop culture cults, there are certain things that should remain untouched, and that just happens to be where Sex and the City categorizes for some fans. Sarah Jessica Parker will always be Carrie and that’s that.

But The CW thought it clever to put a little twist on things and actually bring us back in time to meet a young Carrie Bradshaw before she made her move to the big city. It got us all to pay attention, but it doesn’t seem as if Sarah Jessica Parker is feeling the same vibes.
The actress and mommy is covering the current online issue of the Net-A-Porter magazine, and she admits that the idea of a young Bradshaw is…Odd.

When asked how she feels about another actress playing the role she brought to life, Parker answered:
I’m not sure… You know, I think it’s one of those tests of your generosity. She [AnnaSophia Robb] is a lovely girl and I want her to feel good about it, but it’s… odd.
On how she paved the way for HBO’s “GIRLS”:
HBO was very encouraging of the beyond-camera role I played, and I feel that had we not done it, I don’t know that would have existed for Girls. It’s such a different way of thinking and it’s not conventional.
I also think [Dunham] came along understanding her voice and with the support of a producing partner [Judd Apatow] experienced enough to say she is capable of this, she needs to be in charge of the story as it’s her voice. I do feel Sex and the City‘s success made that possible, and it would have been different otherwise.
While SJP may sound a little bitter saying the show is “odd,” it must be strange to see a role she is so closely connected to changed up in such a manner.
