After a very long night, it seems the identities of the alleged Boston Marathon bombers have been revealed.

NBC News is reporting the two men are brothers Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and Tamerlan Tsarnaev.

The brothers are from Chechnya, Russia and have been in the U.S. since 2001, according to their uncle.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, is still on the run, while his older brother, Tamerlan, 26, was killed earlier this morning during a shoot-out with Boston PD. Dzhokhar is a student at UMASS Dartmouth and was seen there this week after the bombings according to WCVB.

The father of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, Anzor Tsarnaev, says his son is an “accomplished medical student” and “a true angel”, AP reports. He spoke to the news agency from the city of Makhachkala, capital of the Russian republic of Dagestan, shortly after police said his other son, 26-year-old Tamerlan, had been killed in a shootout.

One of the brothers is said to have a Massachusetts drivers’ license, an NBC report claims. The brothers’ uncle has confirmed to AP that the men lived together near Boston. Some reports say the two may have arrived in the US from Turkey and have Turkish citizenship.

DZHOKHAR, 19 [at large]:

There is a page at the Russian social network VKontakte (In Contact) with the name Dzhokhar Tsarnaev living in Boston and studying at Cambridge Rindge & Latin School.

The name is listed among the recipients of Cambridge scholarships in 2011.

The Cambridge school mentions Dzhokhar Tsarnaev as its athlete of the month for February 2011, saying that he is an athlete.

The VKontakte page mentions a school in Makhachkala, the capital of the Republic of Dagestan, as a place Tsarnaev studied between 1999 and 2001.

On the day of the bombing, he tweeted this from his Twitter account:

His last 12 tweets since the bombing were a mash-up of rap lyrics, retweets, and a claim that he’s just a “stress free guy.”

The Tsarnaev family moved to Dagestan from Kyrgyzstan in 2001, the school spokesman told RT. Dzhokhar studied there for just one year and  produced no particular impression, good or bad, on the teachers.

“He arrived at our school in the first form and departed in the second,” Irina Bandurina, the secretary at Makhachkala’s School No.1, told RT. “They arrived from Kyrgyzstan and departed to the US. I’m telling you they lived here for a year. Not the whole year. They arrived at the school in 2001 and departed in March 2002 … There were four of them – two sisters and two brothers… It’s written here that they are from Kyrgyzstan. The Chechens.”

Dzhokhar was born in Kyrgyzstan. The family, which also included two daughters, Bella and Amina, had the status of refugees at the time they moved to Russia.

TAMERLAN, 26 [deceased]:

The elder of the brothers was married and is the father to a three-year-old. Tamerlan fled to the US with his family as a refugee because of the conflict, however, authorities say he was in Russia for a period of six months in 2012.

However, despite spending the most of his life in America, he claimed not have “a single American friend.” “I don’t understand them,” reads one of the captions to the set pictures of Tamerlan.

In 2009 he was put under arrest for beating his girlfriend, who described him in one interview as a “very nice man,” according to the City of Cambridge Police Department.

A passionate fan of boxing, he spent a lot of time training for competitions, according to  Johannes Hirn, who posted a photo essay entitled ‘Will Box for Passport’ on his page on Photoshelter.com.

A gruesome photo of Tamerlan’s corpse has surfaced showing his nody riddled with bullet holes. There is a huge gash in the ribcage area, possibly from the explosions and his face is covered in blood.
