As a Tanzanian woman, I know some of the difficulties that children face when trying to seek education. While in a developed economy like the United States, education is taken for granted, however for children in Tanzania like in most parts of the world, it is a struggle everyday as they have to wake up early in the morning, help with house chores and at times to walk long distances to school. Building a school nearer to their homes ensures that the children get more time to sleep, play and just to be children.
Oftentimes, children in many parts of the world, leave home without breakfast and this leads to the weakening of their immune system, and acquiring curable diseases like malaria, diarrhea, and cholera. Education is key to a better life for a society because children learn not only for themselves but for their future children and generations to come. So, it is important for Americans to show how education is important to their children by explaining that every day in school is a blessing for many children in parts of the world who strive for it. Food, shelter and clothing are basic needs yet they are privileges in many cases.
Building schools and health centers near the community like the construction of NJIA Health Center by Life Project for Africa is important and can not only save immediately lives but improve the health and lives of many for generations to come.
I have been part of various charity activities in my country including being the Goodwill Ambassador for SOS Villages Tanzania and I am happy to be associated with Life Project for Africa, where I hope that this project becomes sustainable as it can continue to grow and spread to other parts of Tanzania, Africa and other parts of the world where there is a need for a school or hospital. Being part of this project needs more than just donation of money but it is also important to personally reach out to the people, correspond with them and to show care and understanding, so that at the end of the day this is not just donation but charity in its secular and spiritual sense.
