Hey Global Grind!

My name is Heidi Albertsen and I have been modeling for some time and still going at it.  When I don’t stand in front of the camera or travel the world, I find a tremendous amount of joy and fulfillment from the charity work that I do.  This past Tuesday, I co-hosted with my dear friend, Russell Simmons, the fall event for Life Project For Africa, a charity that helps solve poverty issues in Africa, which was a tremendous success.  I got the chance to meet the amazing Justine Simmons (and her little Russell) again at the event and invited her to join me for a visit to another important charity I strongly support, Lower Eastside Service Center, in New York City. LESC recently celebrated its 50th Anniversary this year on May 11th, 2009, where Justine also attended as a guest, and served as a Gala committee member with her son Daniel Simmons.  Next year on May 17th, 2010 I am humbled that they will be honoring me and I am also proud to serve as a gala ambassador.  And we are very grateful to have Justine as our Gala committee member and spokesperson.

Here is a letter from LESC’s director of development Peter Santoro as well as pictures from Justine and my visit to Su Casa in New York and some photos from LESC’s 50th anniversary gala.

In Kindness,
Heidi

Justine Simmons, featured cast member of the reality television series Run’s House and supermodel and LESC Ambassador Heidi Albertsen, http://www.heidialbertsen.com, recently visited Su Casa – a residential treatment facility of the Lower Eastside Service Center.  Among the several programs included at Su Casa is the Pregnant Women & Infants program (PWIP) – a program created to meet the unmet needs of pregnant women with opiate addiction.  The hope and encouragement that Ms. Simmons and Ms. Albertsen gave these women is remarkable.  Just as one woman said, “it’s a great day when you’re living in treatment center and you receive a visit from Justine Simmons and Heidi Albertsen.”  Ms. Simmons held one baby after another, undoubtedly loving every minute of the visit.  Ms. Simmons reply to one child, sitting in a stroller, refusing to smile for anyone was “I’ll make that child smile.”  Ms. Simmons knelled down, offered that child her million dollar smile and that precious, beautiful child lit up the room with a smile equally and bright and Ms. Simmons.

The visit by Ms. Simmons and Ms. Albertsen simply let our clients know that there are people who really do care.  It seems that the love, hugs and kisses shared by Ms. Simmons, Ms. Albertsen and the residents during that much appreciated visit will be remembered by all for a long time to come.
