Life is full of surprises.  As a young adult, I understand the challenges and pressures that other young people face everyday.  I feel that life is sometimes harder for young people because we are constantly reminded that every decision we make will influence our future.   How scary is that?
Some understand the consequences of their actions and choose to make good decisions whether it’s not to use drugs, not drop out of school, practice safe sex etc… But then there are others who don’t understand the consequences and are constantly battling to overcome the negativity their decisions bring.  Having a mentor can help young people make better decisions.
With the support of my friends and family, especially my dad, I have learned to live each moment practicing what is right.  What many of you have seen in the show is the reality of my life.  My dad is also a friend and an important mentor who has provided guidance, direction and answers to some of the most hardest questions of my life.
No one is perfect but we can all strive to be better people and do what is right.  I encourage all of you to seek a mentor – someone you could trust and feel comfortable expressing yourself with.
Sometimes you need an outside perspective to help see yourself better.
That is what being a mentor means to me.  What does it mean to you?
Be happy. Stay positive.  Live life.
