What’s up Global Grind!   There is one saying that we like to live by in football. “There is no “i” in team”.   I am so proud of what we accomplished this year as a team and all the obstacles we overcame. Thank you to all the supportive fans for cheering us on and helping to bring us as far as we did.

I’ve been reflecting over the last year and want to share that I have had so many great mentors throughout my life who shaped the person I am today and that continue to motivate and inspire me.

The most important lessons that I’ve learned have come from mentors that have included my family, coaches and friends.  Two of the lessons they taught that I’d like to share with young people are  1.  Having a strong work ethic and 2. Being ambitious enough to overcome obstacles.

Having a strong work ethic is what will make you successful in whatever you choose to do.  Get up in the morning with the thought that you will apply yourself and give work/school your #1 effort.  Failures should be seen as learning opportunities.  Don’t ever give up on your dreams.

Everyone has their different struggles and challenges but it is your will and ambition that will help you to overcome them.  You have to want to be better and do better for yourself.  If it’s important enough, nothing should get in your way.  It is never too late to start your journey.

Writing this message, I’m taking on the role of a mentor to all of you just by sharing what inspires me.  I hope you will take it and apply it to your life because along with keeping God first, I apply them to my life everyday.

Stay tuned…I’m getting ready to launch the Dwight Freeney Foundation which will help young people to learn about the importance of being physically fit and living healthy lifestyles.

Much love,
Dwight Freeney
