April 2nd, if all goes as planned, will be the day the live DJ stage show is forever changed. With Skeetox, i’m trying to innovate the performance, sound, creativity, and boundaries I have always faced as a DJ. Taking cues from those before me such as what the Roots did incorporating hip-hop with live sound, Kanye’s showmanship and creativity turning concerts into true shows, the innovativeness the homie Travis Barker did with the late DJ AM (R.I.P.), I’m trying to create a niche and add my own twist by rethinking the entire way a DJcan perform on stage. I hope the following words can explain and prepare you for what we are about to do, but I think its something you will need to truly witness for yourself first person to really understand and appreciate.

I’ve always been quick to get bored and have a super short attention span. As much as I love DJing, being limited to what I can do live by tracks, equipment, and the standard DJ show & setup, I have yearned to do something more in the live space. Now, every celebrity seems to be a DJ, and they are getting paid huge money to stand behind a screen and put on, in my opinion, a show that is very underwhelming to the audience and not worth the money! I decided I wasn’t just going to think and about doing something new and innovative, but actually do it.

It took me a couple years to really figure out what this show could be. Being a DJ gives you all the freedom in the world to play anything (unlike an artist who is tied to there own songs) and break free of limits. However everyone is trained on how its supposed to be done, so breaking the mold proved to be a little more difficult than I thought. After going through hundreds of ideas and then being forced to actually try them it finally all clicked: Why not perform a concert with the DJ effectively as the lead singer? Fortunately for the audience, I realized I don’t have a great voice that could carry this, but instead have the tools to bring in the voices of everyone from Marvin Gaye to Kurt Cobain to Jay-Z to Madonna all at an instant without them physically being there. In addition, I could blaze through a ton of tracks, remix, remake, and cut them up underneath, and create something never before seen while remaining a true DJ and evolving the culture.
