Darling Nicki is continuing to show off her skills in ways other female rappers aren’t. Over a sample of Annie Lennox’s ‘No More ‘I Love You’s”, Nicki raps an ode of devotion and appreciation towards the man (or is it woman?) in her life. For those who hate on all the different sound-effects Nicki puts to use in her flow,, they should be pleased by this cut as there’s very few if any of those going on here. Unfortunately, it’s for that very reason the track falls flat.
Of all the records and guest appearances Nicki has made this is without a doubt her most formulaic pine for radio play. Folks can say what they want about ‘Massive Attack’, but at least we still talk about it and listen to it occassionally. Time will tell if we can say the same about ‘Your Love’.
