It’s been a magical, over the top, crazy ass week!

Last Thursday I was whisked away from the DMV to NYC.  I checked into a suite at the downtown Gansevoort hotel.  My luxury suite had two bathrooms, an amazing over sized bathtub, a swanky living room, fabulous artwork, flat screen TV’s in every room and a bitchin mini bar full of great champagne– all combining to make me feel soooooo money.  But alas, I was tired and alone so I took a look around at the fabulous ambiance and just CRASHED.  After 10 hours of much needed sleep, I woke Friday morning and headed to Milk Studios in the meatpacking district to do a photo shoot for Vogue’s September Issue.

Did you clean the wax out of your ears kids?  I said it was for Vogue’s September Issue.
I don’t mean to brag (yes I do) but let’s keep it real… How many people in there entire lives get to utter that sentence?
I’m sure you want all the details.  Let’s begin with this: It was like a dream, only the dream was better than the best dream ever because it was VOGUE MAGAZINE.

Let’s dive deeper into this experience as I’m always encouraged to do in therapy: It was like an orgasm, only the orgasm was waves of multiple orgasms because it was VOGUE MAGAZINE.

Let’s explore the subtle nuances that might escape the un-versed in fashionista culture reader and meditate on the significance once more: It was like the most important event ever experienced by a human being ever in the history of the world because it was VOGUE MAGAZINE.

Got it?

You might be wondering why little old me would be anointed with this prestige, with the blessing of Anna Wintour, with the bragging rights that are bestowed upon any person deemed acceptable for The September Issue.  Well, I’m going with ‘good karma’, whatever that means.  I’m also pleased to share that since 2009 I’ve been on the Vogue 100.  What is that you might ask?  Let me steal from my friend Andrea Rodgers’s blog AskMissA.com (yup, she’s on the list too):

The Vogue 100, ‘a group of influential decision makers and opinion leaders known for their distinctive taste in fashion and culture. Launching in 2009, The Vogue 100 will represent a group of women in New York, LA, Chicago, Dallas, Miami, DC and San Francisco who personify the rising influence of women over the past several decades.’ Vogue has reported, celebrated and encouraged these changes with stories of women who imposed their influence across every aspect of our world: in politics, in media and entertainment, arts, philanthropy, and fashion.

In layman’s terms that means, I’m doin the damn thing people!

You guys know me, so I can take a moment to be real– I’m a wildly insecure woman and I was very nervous about entering the studio.  Andrea and I have been talking what we would wear just to the studio for like a solid month.  I eventually decided to go in looking like a hot mess and just let them work it out.  That’s right, I went in totally down to earth Katie.  The magic was that the powers that be at Vogue turned out to be so freakin nice, over the top nice… it was not the intimidating group of fashionistas we read about in the Devil Wears Prada and witnessed in the documentary ‘The September Issue’.  Rather, from the second I walked in, I felt right at home and was treated like a queen by some very sweet, genuine, wonderful people.

I was asked not to give too much away…. thus no pics to share just yet, but the issue hits the stands August 24th so l
