What do Inception stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Ellen Page have in common? They all began their acting careers early and were declared stars by the time they were even allowed to attend their high-school proms. These three have been in everything from blockbuster mega-movies to cult classics and even television. Each of the actors have been in Academy Award nominated films and have gone on to tremendous success throughout Hollywood. And now this Friday, we can see how these teenage stars come together as adults in Christopher Nolan’s latest sci-fi action thriller. Let’s take a look at how these teenage stars made their transition into adulthood fame!

We all know Leonardo DiCaprio as the ever so romantic Jack Dawson in James Cameron’s 1997, Academy-Award winning rendition of Titantic but this star actually started out in commercials educational films early on. DiCaprio broke into television in 1990 on NBC’s sitcom Parenthood based on the 1989 movie of the same name starring Steve Martin and Dianne Wiest. The sitcom was very short lived but in 1991 DiCaprio landed the role of Luke Brower on ABC’s hit-sitcom Growing Pains. The role of Luke Brower was a poignant one for a young actor in television as he was a homeless child taken in by the Seavers.

His breakthrough film role came through in 1992 when he played Toby Wolff in This Boy’s Life which co-starred Robert DeNiro. One year later he cemented his place as a star among us when he co-starred alongside Johnny Depp in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape? as the mentally-ill brother Arnie. He rose to superstar status in 1996 when he landed the leading role in William Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet as directed by Baz Luhrmann. As Romeo, DiCaprio delivered a powerful performance opposite Claire Danes. After Titanic was released in December of 1997 the world was in Leo-mania as DiCaprio had catapulted into mega-fame.

More recently, DiCaprio has starred in Gangs of New York, The Departed and Revolutionary Road. While he is still riding the waves of his Hollywood success, DiCaprio is also adding writer, director and producer credits to his résumé!

Joseph Gordon-Levitt started acting at the age of six landing two cameos on NBC’s hit show Family Ties.  He broke into film in 1992 playing small roles; one which helped put him on the radar is his role as young Norman Maclean in A River Runs Through It. After a few more small roles and cameos on network television shows, including Roseanne, Gordon-Levitt got his big break landing the lead role in Disney’s Angel’s in the Outfield alongside Danny Glover, Tony Danza and Christopher L
