Something as prestigious as receiving 5 Mics from The Source magazine does not come often. In fact it has been five years since the bible of hip hop has honored an artist with such accolades, and fans are anxiously awaiting the newest issue of the mag to find out which album impressed them the most.

The Roots are a long standing hip hop group and their undeniable talent was once again displayed on this album. ‘How I Got Over’ a the perfect balance of a classic Roots album conscious and and super creative.

Eminem’s “Recovery” debuted to great success number wise but it was also an album that appeased the fans. Inspired by life and it’s changes and struggles Em gave up some real emotional truths on this album all while staying very true to the lyrical style that has made him one of the most respected rappers in the game.

With Bun B’s ‘Trill O.G.’ he hit the booth with vengeance. Bun B gives fans what they want. Lyrically it is known that Bun B holds it down but according to industry buzz there is no questioning the hotness that this album holds.

On ‘Teflon Don’ Rick Ross brought a level of decadence and grit that the rap world was missing. With a slew of hits, guest appearances and his undeniable swagger Ricky Rozay’s newest album flew up the charts.

Fat Joe’s “The Darkside” may be considered his best studio album to date. reminiscent of hard core New York Hip Hop, Joe seemed to have found the recipe for success with banging producers and bonified lyrics.
