One in 5 Americans still believes that President Barack Obama is a Muslim, really? Even after all the time Obama has declared that his isn’t? This must be more of the same right wing; internet spread propaganda rumors that float out there that people get misinformation from. Either way, this hasn’t been a very good couple of days for the Prez. From his “No regret” comment yesterday, his low approval ratings, to the “ground zero mosque” controversy and now, “he’s a Muslim”.
Yesterday President Obama asserted and stamped his views on the building of a Muslim Community Center near ground zero. As the President said he has ‘No regrets’ over the comments he made about the right of Muslims to build an Islamic center near the former site of the World Trade Center in New York. So as a result from joining the Community Center debate the President’s approval rating has dropped and he is now considered even more of a Muslim than before, according to the Pew Research Center survey there is a 20% increase since Obama’s inauguration in people believing he is a Muslim. Granted, people were surveyed before President Obama made his comments but with all the “ground zero mosque” debate that has been going on in the last couple of weeks, it’s easy for people to formulate their own conclusions. But what’s more astounding is that more than a third of conservative Republicans now say Obama is a Muslim that percentage has doubled from last year. Now Independents, too, are now more apt to see the president as a Muslim: Among independents, 18 percent say he is a Muslim, up eight percentage points.

The fact is, President Obama is a Christian, he has stated this from the very moment he decided to run for President. How many times can someone repeatedly put defend themselves against something their not? I can’t never understand why people get angry or frustrated when it comes to Presidents and their faith. Why do we care? In other countries a Presidents religious affiliation is not even an issue. We are the only country that cares about this and we shouldn’t.
