Intensity and desire are two of the first words that come to mind when I think about Scorpios. Pharoahe Monch, a hip-hop Scorpion even has an LP aptly titled ‘Desire’. Somehow, through time, the Scorpion has managed to become the sign with arguably the worst reputation in the zodiac. Yet, this stigma is highly undeserved.

This being the case, you would think the next logical step would be to ignore them and cast them off as insignificant. After all, who wants to keep company with someone with such an undesireable rep, right? Wrong !! Quite the opposite, people. Most scorpions are small and easy to overlook, but try overlooking the after effects of that ultra potent sting. Did someone call an ambulance?

The same people who have contributed to putting the scorps through the ringer are also the most curious(and envious of) about what makes the natives of this sign tick. They want to know how they move with such dignity, control and self-posession. How they say so little, yet exude so much at the same time. Better yet, why they don’t give a damn what you think about them. How is this possible? Their imaginations run wild about scorpionic energy, which draws people and situations that mere mortals can only use as daydreaming material.

Depth, survival, passion, power, death and rebirth: these are all themes that contribute to the inner dynamics of Scorpio. If you are fortunate enough to have the pleasure of being close with one, continuously remind yourself how lucky you are to have this rare opportunity, because you will be privy to knowledge that you can’t get in ‘Political Science 101′ at your local community college’. Believe me when I say that these folks take it underground.

By underground, I ‘m talking about delving into the surface of whatever interests these people. Once the scorpion identifies a passion, they leave no stone unturned. The word superficiality does not exist in their vocabulary, and this applies to virtually every area of their life. If your a friend, there’s nothing these people won’t do for you. If you’re a foe, well….. let’s just say that you’re probably not getting too much sleep these days.

Let’s get back to the whole death theme again, shall we? Scorpio is forever trying to kill something within themselves in order to give rise to stronger and more potent energies. That’s why they’re so intense. They carry this internal battle around with them everywhere they go. Higher self vs. lower self. Good vs. evil, revenge vs. tolerance, and many more bouts. It’s been well documented that no other sign has such capacity for positive, regenerative and healing energies. However, when misused and misdirected, the amount of harm and destruction these same energies can cause have no rival. Think about Jonas Salk, who discovered the first polio vaccine and Charles Manson sharing the same sun sign. Heal or destroy.

Scorpio is represented by three symbols; the scorpion, the snake or sepent and the eagle. The Scorpion is the instinctive side of this sign. It likes the dark and doesn’t really like to reveal itself, hence the scorpio’s penchant for secrecy. Also, because of it’s need for absolute self -control, the scorpion will sting ITSELF to death if confronted with a life or death situation. They won’t even give YOU the satisfaction !! It’s like Omar and Brother Mouzone getting to Stringer Bell before the cops could. Remember the look on McNulty’s face when he discovered that he wasn’t going to be able to put the cuffs on? Priceless.

This is the type of person that may seem calm and amiable on the surface, but PLEASE check out those eyes again. That’s just the beginning. Underneath, there is an intensity that mere words can’t describe. You’re already face down on the pavement before it occurs to you that you should’ve thought about toying with a seemingly quiet and good natured scorp. See, the the battle for scorpio is that of transcendence. They’re tryi
