BLAT! Pack emcee Saffal Tall – otherwise known as FowL – was crowned the winner of the Red Bull EmSee Rap Battle at St. Andrews Hall in Detroit. The Detroit native wowed the judges with his brawny, energetic rhymes to defeat San Francisco emcee Nocando in round one, North Carolina’s Killa Chris in round two, and New York emcee DNA in the final round.

Spearheaded by Eminem, "The Red Bull Emsee: The Road to 8 Mile" was a national freestyle rap battle which featured emcees competing for the honor of being named the best freestyle emcee in the country. Contestants were judged on delivery, flow, presence, and their ability to freestyle to spontaneous cues — making it not only a battle against each other, but also against the clock and the mind’s eye.

FowL is a ripe 18 year-old, but he’s had high expectations for the better part of the last decade—and he has consistently exceeded them. Since arriving as a freshman on scholarship at Michigan State University last year, FowL has landed gigs around the region, opening for national acts such as Wiz Khalifa and Chip Tha Ripper.

With memorable performances as the backbone to his buzz, FowL has also achieved success with recorded product. The music video for his single “Hello How Ya Doin” has garnered over 4,000 YouTube views since it was posted in March 2010, and his sophomore mixtape For The Love has climbed over 2,000 downloads. He is also six songs into a weekly leak series called "FowL Fridays," of which songs like “Black Is Beautiful” – produced by regional Red Bull Big Tune Beat Battle Champion 14KT – have seen posts on reputed music blogs such as RappersIKnow, MichiganHipHop, DetroitRap and WHUTUPDOE.
