Parents, you might want to call your kids into the room and show them something cool. Global Grind had the privilege to take part in Nickelodeon’s Annual Worldwide Day of Play at NYC Big Brothers Big Sisters RBC Race for the Kids Event in Riverside Park on September 25, 2010 in New York City.

Keke Palmer kicked off the festivities with an amazing version if the National Anthem. My daughter and I held our hands over our hearts as her voice flew there the air as beautifully as a bald eagle gliding gracefully through the sky.

After Keke Palmer sung America’s tune Host of Nickelodeon’s BrainSurge Jeff Sutphen, kicked off the Big Brothers and Big Sisters race, before hosting a celebrity version of BrainSurge. The game featured Keke Palmer, Chris Paul, Victoria Justice, and Matt Shively who all answered questions so one lucky contestant could get slimed. Victoria was victorious.

After BrainSurge we were saw Miranda Cosgrove walk by and my daughter burst into tears. The iCarly star has an amazing aura of love. Miranda Cosgrove treated the crowd to a wonderful set of songs off her album. My daughter sang along to each song.

I ran into Chris Paul backstage and asked him about the importance of kids going out to play. ‘Kids need to exercise and they need to get out and play, Chris Paul said. ‘It’s apart of being healthy and just getting out being a kid, getting dirty in the grass, running around playing w/ your friends and learning how to play actual sports instead of just playing video games all the time.’
