A new Salvador Dali Museum will be opening in St. Petersburg, Florida next year. The museum will open on January 11, 2011 (1/11/11) at 11:11 A.M.

The guest of honor will be Her Royal Higness Infancta Cristina Of Spain.

Although it may seem like a strange location, the Dali Museum originated in St. Petersburg in 1982. The museum has been under construction since December of 2008. It holds more Dali works than any other museum in the world and has the largest collection outside of Spain.

Approximately 200,000 people visit the museum every year, bringing about $50 million dollars to the St. Petersburg economy. The new museum is a $36 milion dollar building, doubling the current space of the Museum.
