Jimmy McMillan repeated ‘Rent. Is. Too. Damn. High’ adamantly at the debate on Monday night to cement his platform as a governor in running for the Rent Is Too Damn High Party.
Although he is an advocate opposing high rent, he himself has not paid rent in the early 1980’s. The one bedroom flat where he lived on Nostrand Avenue in Flatbush Brooklyn should have been the first thing to go when he had to leave his Postal Service job on disability.
Fortunately, his landlady kindly forgave him of his rent that he fell behind him and in time turned a a blind eye on the future rent because she admired his Vietnam War service.
Even after she died in 2003, the heirs have continued to accomodate Mr. McMillan.

Mr. McMillan’s living quarters are a mystery and so is his vehicle, an old Honda CR-V filled with random paraphernalia which he supposedly sleeps in while traveling.
His apartment was not available for viewing and there are some odd speculations over whether he is actually paying rent for his place of $800 according to an article in the Wall Street Journal.
Jimmy McMillan, the face of ‘Rent Is Too Damn High’ claims that he has been paying $900 bucks for his unemployed son for a rent-stabilied apartment in St. Marks Place. His final statement is, ‘Don’t look for anything I say about my living space to be true.’
