We’ve seen our share of controversial photographs here at GlobalGrind. When  the Beyonce photos from L’Officiel’s 90th issue dropped last week, we decided to comb our memory and our vaults for some of the most arresting and controversial images that struck a chord with the public.

These images run the gamut and encompass politics, fashion and everyday life. For example, very few people may remember Colors magazine’s Tibor Kalman’s portrait of the Queen of England as a black woman, nor the magazine’s creative director Oliveri Toscani’s photograph of a nun kissing a priest. Some you may be too young to remember the infamous Willie Horton ads of the 1988 presidential race between George Bush Sr. and Michael Dukakis. We are also certain that you may not remember Betty Page. But thats OK. Each one teach one.

Check out our gallery of some memorable (or not so memorable, depending on who you ask) images that rocked the world.
