Who:  Barack Obama

What: It’s official, President Barack Obama will run for reelection in 2012. The president’s intention to seek another term was announced in a video sent to supporters via email and text message on Monday. Over the weekend, multiple outlets reported that the launch of Obama’s reelection campaign was imminent.

Weight: $1 Billion

How They Hustled:  Larry Klayman, a renowned American activist, former Justice Department prosecutor, former U.S. Senate candidate and book author, says he has sued both Facebook and founder Mark Zuckerberg for over $1 billion after the social networking giant failed to remove a page calling for a third intifada against Israel’s Jewish population swiftly enough.

Plot Line: At least two sons of Col. Muammar Gaddafi are proposing a resolution to the Libyan conflict that would entail pushing their father aside to make way for a transition to a constitutional democracy under the direction of his son Seif al-Islam el-Qaddafi, a diplomat and a Libyan official briefed on the plan said Sunday.

Hero Of The Day

Who: The Family Dog

What:  Tyler Jacobson a 22-month-old toddler, wandered off into the dark woods surrounding his South Carolina home, he was wearing only his T-shirt and a diaper. Rescuers used a bloodhound tracking team and searched and scoured the woods for the missing boy. 

Thankfully, the toddler had someone looking after him. One of his family’s dogs apparently had tagged along and stayed at his side through the night, keeping the boy warm and safe as temperatures dropped into the 40s.

Where: Florida

What: A Florida teacher has landed in hot water after silencing a noisy student by placing tape over her mouth.

“She asked me to stop talking, and then a couple minutes went by, and I started to talk again, and she came to me and put it on my mouth,” 13-year-old Jazlyn Freel told WSVN-TV.

“I had to cough, so I took the first piece off, so she went into her desk, and she took another piece out, and she put it on my mouth again.”

What Happened: The single biggest atrocity in the long battle for control of the Ivory Coast has emerged, after aid workers discovered the bodies of up to 1,000 people in the town of Duekoue. The apparent massacre came despite the presence of United Nations troops and – if confirmed – will cast a shadow over Mr. Outtara’s assumption of the Ivory Coast’s presidency after a four-month battle to oust Lawrence Gbagbo, the former president who lost the November election, but refused to step down.
