It’s all about the green team today. But it’s not the Boston Celtics we want to celebrate, instead it’s about awareness and appreciation for Earth Day. Today is the day that intends to inspire everyone to cultivate interest in the environment, while at the same time, show some love for Mother Earth.

Your favorite celebrity’s favorite celebrity will surely be doing their part this Earth Day to spread the good word on protecting the environment and making the earth a much safer place. 

Earth Day isn’t only about the Earth itself, it’s also a platform for preserving what makes up our world. By protecting animals, plants and our water, let’s take a look at some of our favorite celebs that are walking the walk and talking the talk.

Uncle Rush:

Among many of his initiatives for preserving life and making sure we treat animals fairly, Russell Simmons has been a advocate for animal rights, going so far as to change his eating habits and take on the vegan lifestyle.

Leo Dicaprio started his own Foundation in 1998 which focused on environmental issues to promote a greener planet. Talking the talk and walking the walk, Leo pushes a hybrid car.

Hova:

Jay-Z’s known for ripping rhymes and shutting down arenas, but he is also the UN Special Envoy for the Water for Life Project, which provides water to millions of Africans.

The Pretty Girl:

Rosario Dawson is known as one of Hollywood’s most outspoken, but her work with the Joyful Activist Club is dope. Planting trees for a better community is something we all can appreciate.

The Rocker:

Willie Nelson is a co-partner in the Willie Nelson Biodiesel Company, which is leading the way in providing innovative ways in producing alternative fuels. Using soybean and other vegetable oils that can be used in diesel engines instead of regular fuel, will relieve our dependence on foreign sources of oil.

Pitt:

Looks aside, Brad Pitt’s commitment to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina has been nothing short of remarkable. Pitt’s initiative to build 20 affordable, reduced energy, environmentally friendly homes in New Orleans has made him one of the heroes of Nawlins since Katrina.

Vinny Chase:

His “Entourage” crew aside, Adrian Grenier is one of the younger voices in Hollywood who bleeds green. Grenier has a show on Planet Green called “Alter Eco,” while at the same time, he raises money for Water Ball, a charity that brings safe drinking water to developing countries.
