It’s been nine years since one-third of TLC, Lisa Lopes, aka Left Eye, was killed in a fatal car accident in Honduras.

In the prime of her life and on the verge of breaking out on her own, Lopes’ death shocked friends, family and fans. The femcee put the “L” in TLC, literally. The group ― which consisted of Tionne Watkins, Lopes and Crystal Jones ― started off as the female trio Second Nature, but were renamed TLC — which was derived from the first letter of each of their names. When things didn’t work out with Jones, Rozonda Thomas was brought in.

Lopes would go on to dub Thomas “Chilli” to represent the “C.” The trio of T-Boz, Left Eye and Chilli would go on to sell 32 million albums and 20 million singles worldwide with each one of their releases leaving a mark on pop culture from their 1992 debut “Ooooooohhh … On the TLC Tip” to 1999’s “Fanmail.”

We remember Lopes, known for being TLC’s boisterous emcee, by taking a trip down memory lane via pictures.
