Salone de Mobile (Milan Furniture Fair) is over, but it had quite a few innovative things happening in the world of furniture design: celebrity designers reinterpreting cult pieces from Kartel’s past collections.

The stand out was Dean and Dan Caten of Dsquared², twin designers, usually trapped in the world of fashion, whose “Canadian” version of Phillipe Stark’s “Master Chair” caused a stir.

The chair is something that most people would have in their home as a collector’s item, more so than a utility for seating. However, it’s design got us thinking about the many designers who have either started full-fledged furniture collections or have simply made pieces of furniture as collector’s items.

Either way, it seems that there is a market for clothing designers who want to venture into the world of furniture. After all, the most designed objects on the planet are tooth brushes and chairs.
After the break, check out some designers who have stepped into the furniture market.
