Houton, TX – U.S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords made her first public appearance since being shot on January 8, 2011 in Tuscon, Arizona during a political event. Six people were killed during the tragic shooting and Giffords suffered a gunshot wound to the head. She is currently undergoing rehabilitation in Houston. Giffords was spotted today boarding a NASA flight to Florida to attend the launch of the space shuttle Endeavor (scheduled for Friday at 2:47 PM Eastern time) that her husband, Mark Kelly, is commanding.
“I’m personally looking forward to my wife, Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, getting here pretty soon, to be here in time for our launch on Friday,” said Kelly.”It’s something she’s been looking forward to for a long time…She’s been working really hard to make sure that her doctors would permit her to come. She’s more than medically ready to be here, and she’s excited about making this trip.”
