Cholas are a subculture of Mexican gang bangers and drug dealers. They’re usually the girlfriends or sisters of Mexican gangbangers and just as tough.

A Chola is a gang member and is always down for her “barrio,” aka neighborhood. Cholas are usually found in Southern California in the areas of Los Angeles and South Central Los Angeles.

What makes Cholas so interesting is their distinct style. Cholas usually have thin, arched, tattooed-on or penciled-on eyebrows accented with brown or dark red lip liner. These ladies also sport eyebrow and nose piercings, gang affliated tattoos, Converse or Nike sneakers, men’s Dickie pants, wife beaters, flannel shirts and lots of gold jewelry.

Their jewelry collection consists of gawdy gold name plates and surprisingly religious symbols like crosses, Mary and Jesus pieces. Cholas rock their hair in crunchy gelled or moussed updos or perfected high ponytails. They also have very long nails painted in bright vibrant colors.

Chola’s are pretty gangsta in the streets and style wise. Check out the hardest Cholas on the next few pages!
