Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver’s divorce announcement has come as total shock to many people in Hollywood and politics. After 25 years of a very public marriage, the former Governor of California and the beloved member of the infamous Kennedy family are calling it quits.
It’s safe to say that you never know what goes on behind the scenes in many of these Hollywood romances. Some celebrity relationships are easy to predict, while others are not. The media likes to put a time limit on Hollywood relationships, but some couples prove the critics wrong and beat the test of time.

When rapper Nas and singer Kelis got married in 2005, they were instantly considered one of hip-hop’s royal couples. The two love birds seemed like the perfect match, but unfortunately they weren’t. Kelis filed for divorce in 2009 and all hell broke loose.
Kelis, who was seven months pregnant at the time, claimed to have been abandoned financially by her estranged husband. The divorce got ugly and a judge ruled that Nas would have to pay Kelis $55,000 a month in child and spousal support.

Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown were one of the most tumultuous celebrity couples in the history of celebrity couples. In the late ’80s, Whitney was America’s R&B sweetheart. Whitney had no skeletons in her closet, that is until she met certified “bad boy” Bobby Brown at the Soul Train Music Awards in 1989.
After a three years of dating, Bobby and Whitney tied the knot in 1992. The couple found themselves in the spotlight for their erratic behavior, drug abuse and domestic violence, but nothing could separate these two love birds. It wasn’t until 17 years later when Whitney Houston finally had enough of the dysfunctional relationship. The two stunned the world when they divorced in 2007.

At one point in time actors Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe were Hollywood’s hottest couple. The two actors met in 1997 at Reese’s 21st birthday party. They got married two years later in 1999 and started a family very quickly. The actors have two children Ava and Deacon.
The couple received a lot of attention for admitting that they attended couples counseling, citing that it was normal for them and that their marriage wasn’t in trouble. Seven years later Reese filed for divorce claiming “irreconcilable differences” as the reason she was ditching Ryan.

Actress Courteney Cox met funny actor David Arquette and fell instantly in love with him. The two brown-haired hotties got married in June 1999. Five years later Courteney gave birth to their first child, Coco Riley Arquette.
