Its that time of year again in New York City! Every second Sunday in June, millions of Puerto Ricans and their admirers line 5th Avenue to cheer on floats and enjoy their favorite stars parading in the National Puerto Rican Parade.

The parade has been happening for about 50 years and you can tell time for it is drawing near because of the influx of Puerto Rican flags draped over cars and bodies glistening under the June sun. That and the salsa that seems louder and infectious en el barrio.

Walk around Puerto Rican neighborhoods in the Bronx, Brooklyn and Manhattan and you’re sure to see buildings and fire escapes fluttering with the la bandera, the red, white and blue flag beloved by Puerto Rican nationals. That’s not the only place to see the flag and Puerto Rican pride, however. There’s also tattoos.

After the break, see some of the nicest Puerto Rico inspired tattoos this side of La Isla Bonita!
