Lil Mama has found herself in hot water lately, with alleged comments she made about Nicki Minaj biting her style in a previous interview, but that hasn’t stopped the Brooklyn babe from making music.

Lil Mama hit the studio with Snoop Dogg to create her hometown repping track, “NY NY LA LA.” Lil Mama isn’t just a judge on MTV’s “America’s Best Dance Crew,” she is a driven, well-focused young lady.

Lil Mama took time out of her busy schedule to speak with GlobalGrind about collaborating with Snoop Dogg, her thoughts on Twitter beef, Lupe Fiasco’s music and of course, her fans.

Check out the exclusive interview below!

GlobalGrind: “NY NY  LA LA” reps the East and the West, but you were born and raised in Brooklyn. How was it working with Snoop Dogg?

Lil Mama: It was definitely an honor, because growing up I listened to his music all the time. I used to be riding in the car with my dad and listening to Snoop. To actually get the chance to work with him and be respected by him and it feels so great.

You took a hiatus from the music scene once you got your start with MTV’s “America’s Best Dance Crew.” Where are you focused musically?

I’m just focused on the music, being Lil Mama, and putting me into the music. I’ve been having a lot of fun lately with my music. There’s no planned direction, it’s just fun and I’m putting it out there. That’s why I took the job with “America’s Best Dance Crew” because it’s not just some show where I’m “Judge Judy.” I’m not just a dance judge; I’m still incorporating dance and music in my judging job. It’s just been a great experience for me.

Who Is Lil Mama?

Lil Mama is a New York native born in Brooklyn. I’m ready for the world and I take things as they come. I embrace the rough groove and enjoy the smooth ride.

If you could collaborate with anyone who would it be?

Lupe Fiasco, Lauryn Hill and Chris Brown again, but there are so many artists that I would collaborate with out here.

Speaking of Chris Brown, he’s been involved in a Twitter feud with Tyler, the Creator and Odd Future lately. What are your thoughts on Twitter beef in general?

Twitter beef is very entertaining. First and foremost, I’m speaking from a general standpoint. When people are on the computer, it’s not really a fight. It’s just entertaining. Speaking in more particular about Chris Brown and I don’t know who this other person is, I don’t really get into that because it’s not really my business. The media puts Lil Mama into arguments with other people that are no existent, so I can’t get into that.

Lupe Fiasco is someone you mentioned earlier, what are your thoughts on Lupe Fiasco calling President Barack Obama a terrorist?

What? I don’t even know who or what you’re talking about. I just know Lupe Fiasco is a great artist. I have his albums and I’m always listening to his music. He’s a great powerful young man coming out of the community who has a great voice. He expresses the things we go through. I feel like Lupe Fiasco has a great way of putting his message into his music.

If you were sent to a deserted island, and you could only bring three albums with you, what three albums would you bring?

Lauryn Hill “Miseducation,” Jazmine Sullivan’s debut album and a hip-hop mixed CD from the ’90s. That would be my three. I’d make my own mixed hip-hop CD so I could put a lot of different artists on there.

Are there any rumors or anything you categorically want to deny? Anything you want to clear up about things you’ve been hearing?

Yeah, I’ve just come to the conclusion that people are going to say what they want and feel how they feel. Everyone’s entitled to their opinion. I just love the people for embracing my music and getting on the web and supporting “NY NY LA LA.” Thank you for the support.
