Today GEAR has some sad news in the form of sneakers we love but can’t get our hands on, a photograph we can’t afford, beaded jewelry from a professor of art and an old time favorite. Come along!

Kicks

Who: Penny Hardway

What: Penn Hardaway Nike Air Force 1

When: Soon, Real Soon.

Available: Never? Never Ever Ever Ever?

GG Certified: We like the color way of the new Hardaway’s but we’re not sure how they’ll look on our feet as they sometimes make them look big and boxy. That being said, this is the most anticipated shoe of the summer and word is it will not be released. Via NiceKicks and Sole Collector.

Throwback

What: Chutes & Ladders

Made By: Hasbro

Available: On Amazon

GG Certified: ‘Member back in the day when Chutes & Ladders was the bomb? You’d spend hours and hours with your friends going up and down, up and down those ladders? No? Well, you’ve missed out, but your kids won’t have to. The game has seen all types of incarnations, most recently as Dora La Exploradora. Head over to Amazon or Toys R Us and grab a box and spend some time getting reacquainted with the game and your kid.

One Day

What: “Untitled #96” from 1981

Made by: Cindy Sherman

Available: Now, for $4 million

GG Certified: The above work is the highest price ever paid for a photographic work according to ArtInfo.com. When it was at auction in May, it sold at Christies for $3.8 million. The good news is that photography is getting the recognition it deserves. The bad news is, we  can’t afford an original Cindy Sherman. In the mean time, we’ll settle for a digital print via our living room’s ink jet.
