And the Lil Kim vs. Voletta Wallace beef continues. This time it’s Notorious B.I.G.’s mother Voletta Wallace who is firing the shots.
Late last night, the news broke that Voletta Wallace was putting a stop to Monica’s new single “Anything (To Find You) which samples Biggie’s hit song “Who Shot Ya”. The catch is that Biggie’s mother isn’t putting a stop to the whole song, just the 16 bars that Lil Kim laid down on the track.

Someone better put another tally on the score board for Ms. Wallace, because she definitely one-uped Lil Kim this time.
R&B singer Monica took to Twitter and begged for Ms. Wallace to reconsider her decision to can the new single unless Lil Kim’s verse was removed. There’s been no word yet from Ms. Wallace.
As many Biggie fans know, Lil Kim and his mother’s beef didn’t begin overnight. There have been numerous occasions where Voletta and Lil Kim have exchanged words with each other.
In a 2005 interview with SOHH.com, Voletta Wallace revealed how she and Lil Kim were once close, but Lil Kim doesn’t take honesty very well and Voletta prides herself on being truthful.
“After my son’s death, believe it or not, Lil’ Kim and I were close, but I guess she doesn’t … I’m a woman who speaks my mind and sometimes you say things, the truth hurts and you take it the wrong way. I did not like the way she was talking over national television and the radio about Biggie, the love of her life, her heart, her nose, her mouth, her butt, every part of her.”
Lil Kim doesn’t really know exactly when or how her and Voletta’s relationship turned sour, but she made a point a few years ago to mention that she always looked out for Voletta after Biggie’s death.
“It’s crazy ’cause she and I lived together in Biggie’s house for almost eight months after Biggie died. On top of all that, out of the kindness of my heart and the love I had for Biggie, I share five percent of my publishing with Ms. Wallace; just out of love, making sure that if I ate, she and the kids ate,” said Lil Kim.
The beef didn’t stop there. Once the rumor mill began to swirl about a Notorious B.I.G. biopic, Lil Kim, Faith Evans and Voletta Wallace went to war with words.
Kim, who was upset about the way Ms. Wallace and Faith portrayed her in the film, made it very clear that, in her opinion, the film wasn’t about telling the truth but about “sensationalizing” Biggie’s life. Lil Kim talks about a part of the script she read:
“They [Voletta Wallace & Faith Evans] were disrespecting me terrible in that script, but the one that sticks out to me was in a scene allegedly when Ms. Wallace came to see one of Biggie’s shows for the first time and I was supposed to be so mad at him about something that I pulled my panties off on stage and mooned the crowd with my p—-. What the f—?! Come on, don’t you think that would’ve been in the history archives? They’re using Lil Kim to sensationalize their bulls— lying’-a– story.”
The outspoken Jamaican woman that Voletta Wallace is didn’t let Lil Kim fire shots without her firing shots back.
Kim complained that the actress playing her was “too dark” and Ms. Wallace fired back, “Do you know why the character was too dark for her? Because she’s a white woman trapped in a black woman’s body.”
Ouch. Words hurt and for the past five to eight years, Lil Kim and Ms. Wallace have been going back and forth at each other.
GlobalGrind doesn’t really know what Biggie would have to say about all the bickering, but we’re pretty sure he wouldn’t approve of two important women in his life fighting over his legacy.
