A mother of seven who was also pregnant with twins was shot dead after refusing to hand over a purse.
The robbers, who initially fled the scene in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, circled back to grab the purse as their victim lay dying on the street.
The deadly shooting happened as 34-year-old Sharon Staples was walking along a street with her teenage son early on Sunday morning.
Police are hunting at least two suspects who carried out the 5.35am robbery and shooting.
The woman’s 13-year-old son yesterday described how a van pulled up alongside them and two men jumped out. One was holding a handgun.
