Hurricane Irene has been pounding the East Coast since yesterday afternoon.  It first made landfall in North Carolina and has traveled up the East Coast, hitting Maryland, Washington, DC, Philadelphia, New York City and will hit New England as well.

As of Sunday morning there are nine confirmed deaths, including an 11 year old boy, who was killed in North Carolina when a tree fell and landed on top of him.  Three million people are without power and over nine thousand flights have been cancelled.  The winds of the storm have been between 75-90mph and many homes have been damaged throughout the East Coast.  There is a tornado watch in New York City, but so far no twister has been reported.
