A 16-year-old teenager was charged with the stabbing assault of Rio Andre, 20, towards the end of London’s Notting Hill Carnival.

As Reported By The Telegraph:

A Scotland Yard spokesman said the teenager appeared at West London Youth Court this morning accused of grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon and was remanded in custody to reappear at the court on September 28.

Earlier, Rio’s fatther Roy spoke out as his son was undergoing emergency surgery on wounds to his abdomen and hand.

The university student, who worked at a sports shop to help fund his education, was knifed after stepping in to break up a fight.

Roy, a former professional boxer said “Rio was trying to break up a fight and got stabbed. He’s lucky to be alive.
