The weekend is finally here, and hopefully you had a great week and you’re ready to enjoy all that the weekend has to offer. Luckily for you in this weekend’s DOLLARS & SENSE we have got a couple of cool things to keep you entertained!

If you are in an Asian country, take part in the Moonfest/ Mid-Autumn Festival 2011 Celebration

The Mid-Autumn Festival began this week and is one of the few important holidays on the Chinese calendar, the others being Chinese New Year and Winter Solstice. Farmers celebrate the end of the fall harvesting season on this date. Traditionally on this day, Chinese family members and friends will gather to admire the bright Mid-Autumn harvest moon, and eat moon cakes and pomelos under the moon together.

Accompanying the celebration, there are additional cultural or regional customs, such as carrying brightly lit lanterns, lighting lanterns on towers, floating sky lanterns, burning incense, collecting dandelion leaves and distributing them evenly among family members, fire dragon dances, and barbecuing meat outdoors. Depending on how many things you participate in the Mid-Autumn Festival can be as expensive or inexpensive as you like.

Find A Sports Bar To Watch The 2011 Rugby World Cup

The Rugby World Cup started yesterday, September 9th, and will continue on until October 23rd. Best summarized as European version of American football,  the intense contact sport begins the series of games to determine the world champion of the sport, and what better place to cheer on your favorite team than at your local sports bar. Invite a few friends to join you and knock back a few cold beers with them while you enjoy the game. If you are not familiar with the sport, this weekend may be a good time to check it out or at the very least you can rent Invictus and see if you still aren’t interested.
