Troy Davis has opted to not make a final recorded statement before he is executed tonight for the 1989 shooting death of off-duty Savannah police officer Mark MacPhail.

And after numerous appeals on behalf of his defense, Davis’ last chance to stay alive is the Supreme Court of the United States.

As Reported By The AJC:

Davis will be given one last chance to say his final words once he is strapped to the lethal injection gurney. He is set to be put to death by lethal injection at 7 p.m.

Davis’ chance to be spared execution suffered a blow this afternoon as first Superior Court Judge Thomas Wilson declined to issue a stay and then the Georgia Supreme Court unanimously rejected Davis’ final bid. Davis’ lawyers will now appeal to the the U.S. Supreme Court, his last chance for relief.

Davis was given a last meal of a cheeseburger, potatoes and slaw — the same as what was served other inmates today — but he has not eaten it, a prison spokeswoman said.

Support for Davis has been growing over the last 24 hours as he approaches his final moments.

We are hoping Davis is given a last-minute stay of execution. You can do your part and make your voice heard by tweeting #toomuchdoubt and telling the State of Georgia to save Davis’ life now.
