Having just announced his split with his girlfriend of over a year, Lily Collins, whom he met onset while filming this movie, Taylor is now a single man, promoting Abduction which hit theaters this weekend.

We caught up with Taylor to see what it was like filming this movie, working with the cast (which includes the incredible Sigourney Weaver) and more!

Check it out!

Global Grind: What first drew you to Abduction?

Taylor Lautner: When I read the original script, I read it like a book. I could not stop turning the pages.  I love my character and everything he goes through in this story.  He changes a lot.  But over all it was a challenging role for me.  And that’s what I wanted to do it.  It was physically challenging but also emotionally challenging.

Set this film up for the readers.  What is Abduction about?

Abduction is about a normal high schooler who gets assigned a project.  While doing research for that project he finds a picture of himself on a missing person’s website.  Only to discover that his whole life has been a lie, people are after him and then he and his next door neighbor, Karen, are on the run for the rest of the movie.

Talk to me about your character Nathan and are you like him in any way?

He is a normal high school kid.  He has fun with his friends, parties, argues with his friends, girl problems all of that normal teenage stuff. And then he is thrown into a situation that turns his whole life upside down and he has to adjust to that and become a totally different person by the end of the movie.

And you had a lovely co-star in Lilly Collins.  Talk to us about her.

Lilly Collins plays Karen.  She is extremely talented we have a lot of fun together and she brought a lot to the character.

What was it like playing opposite THE Sigourney Weaver?

Sigourney Weaver plays Dr. Bennett.  When I heard she was going to be playing this role I was like “no way!”  I can’t believe I am going to have the opportunity  to work with Sigourney Weaver.  She was here for a week filming and we had so much fun. She is so gracious, such an awesome woman to work with and I learned a lot from her and I’m just honored to be able to say that I worked with her.

Everyone is talking about these stunts of yours, tell us about them.

I’ve had the opportunity to do quite a lot of crazy stunts.  I slid down this huge glass thing in PNC park, I had fight scenes, I got to have this awesome fight scene with my father in the backyard.  So, I had the opportunity to do quite a lot of crazy stunts.

Why should people go and see this movie?

What makes Abduction so exciting to watch is just watching the journey that Nathan goes through from the beginning of the film to the end.  Like I said, he starts out like a normal high school kid and by the end he is a young man that’s dealt with quite a lot.  So to watch that journey from the beginning to the end is, its emotional.  There is so much going on and it’s been a lot of fun to make.  It’s been challenging but I know its going to look super cool.
