If this young lady looks familiar, that’s because she’s the daughter of the late, great rapper Eazy-E

E.B. Wright has emerged onto the music scene and she’s making quite a name for herself.

You might have seen her on MTV’s spoiled teen series Sweet 16, but she’s far from the demanding 16-year-old she was portrayed as.

GlobalGrind caught up with E.B. to talk about her new single, budding music career and of course, her legendary father.

Check out the exclusive interview below!

GlobalGrind: How old were you when you first started making music?

E.B. Wright: I first started making music when I was 12, so it’s been 8 years now.

You’ve said that your father, Eazy-E, is your musical inspiration. Why didn’t you become a rapper instead of going for the pop route?

He’s a big inspiration to me. Since he was such a big figure in hip-hop and such an icon, people assume that naturally his kid would be doing the same thing that he was doing. I didn’t grow up in the same place as him. I didn’t grow up in the same time. I’m also a girl, I’m young and I was influenced by different music. I grew up listening to Spice Girls and Britney Spears, Avril Lavigne. Everything about me is just different as far as musical content.

My first single is called “What I Wanna Do.” I wrote it and my producer Juice for Eazy Street produced it. I want to tell everybody that I’m just doing what I want to do and what’s me. That’s why my trailer was a really big deal for me. I directed it and I wanted everyone to see not only that I come from this big legend, but I am myself. I just want everybody to get to know me.

Your dad was in NWA with Ice Cube and Dr. Dre. Do you contact them about your music career? And how’s your relationship with them?

I have a really good relationship with Dre, but I haven’t contacted anybody to help me with my music career. I’m doing everything on my own. I have my own label. But I’m not opposed. I am looking to eventually partner up with a major. I do really enjoy hip-hop, but I don’t do that music. I enjoy a lot of music. I listen to country music, I listen to hip-hop a lot. I’m a big fan of Drake and Lil Wayne. Eminem is my favorite. I’m into a lot of different things. The music is just in my blood.

A lot of people don’t know that my dad was a rapper, but was a businessman first. He just got into rapping. A lot of my musical talent comes from my mother’s side. I have a lot of singers and musicians on that side.

Since you’re so passionate, do you do any HIV/AIDS awareness or campaigns? (Eazy-E died of complications from AIDS).

As far as HIV and AIDS awareness, I haven’t done it yet. I’m just focusing on my career, but when I get a little more powerful , in the near future. I’m actually in talks right now to do the AIDS Walk on October 16th with Dr. Dre. I’d be a part of Beats By Dre.

Do you play any instruments?

I’m learning the guitar right now.

Would you consider yourself an L.A. girl, a socialite, or a party girl?

I’m definitely a socialite. I haven’t been partying as much as I used to because so much is happening right now, that’s taken a lot of my focus from that. It’s work, work, work with me. But I’m definitely a socialite. I get out, I mingle with people, I have a good time.

Are you planning on hearing your songs in the club anytime soon and busting the cat daddy, since you’re an L.A. girl?

The cat daddy is one of my favorites. I definitely get down with the cat daddy. But yeah, hopefully my song does pick up and plays on radio and in the clubs as well.

If you were sent to a deserted island and could only bring three albums, what would those albums be?

I’d definitely have to take my dad with me. I’d have to take Eazy Does It, 50 Cent’s Get Rich Or Die Tryin’.

Tell us something most people don’t know about you.

Most people judge me from my MTV Sweet Sixteen and Exiled and they think that I’m some big spoiled brat, but I have a lot of personality. They don’t understand that it’s for TV and that’s what the show’s premise was. I would have to say most people don’t know that I’m not that way. I’m the total opposite. I’m the most outgoing, fun, talkative, friendly person ever.

Also, the fact that I don’t rap. That’s something that people are just now finding out. A lot of it is assumption, so I’m glad to finally be able to talk to people and give them a visual of who I am and music for them to finally understand me. Interviews as well, to be able to talk and let them know that I am not that way. And even if I was, to let them know that I was 16 at the time and now I’m 20. There is a growing process and people don’t understand that.

You tweeted a pic of you and Apple from the Black Eyed Peas. Your sounds are similar. Are you going to work with him anytime soon?

I hope so! We’re in talks with Will.I.Am right now and my choreographer is actually the choreographer for the Black Eyed Peas. She’s traveling the world with them, she’s doing everything for them. So we’re working on my stage show right now and I’ve been good friends with her since I was 14 years old. I ran into him and it’s amazing to me to think how huge they are and knowing that my father discovered them before anyone knew anything.

What is your dream collaboration?

My dream collaboration would have to be with Eminem. I can’t think of anyone in the music industry who’s that big. He’s huge! I’m a big fan of him and I know people would like to see a more urban influence in my music, even though I do have some. I think he would be perfect. I have a song right now that I’m trying to get him on. “What I Wanna Do,” my first single, is a great song. It’s my introductory record, but the records that I have that haven’t come out yet are ridiculous. This is just the beginning.

When are we going to be able to hear it?

Very soon! I just put the first single out on my father’s birthday, September 7th. I’m going to be shooting the video for that in about three weeks. I have some special surprises for that as well. I’m going to get that rolling, let them keep going for a while, build it up, and then more music on the way. Right now I’m still working, writing, rehearsing.

Do you have a celebrity crush?

For music, it would be Nick Jonas. For sports, it’d be Kevin Durant. I like different styles and different interests.

How can fans interact with you and what’s next?

My Twitter is @itsEBWright. My website is WeWantEB.com, my YouTube is youtube/wewanteb.

Outside of being an artist, I’m an entrepreneur. I’m working on a lot of different ventures and I’m looking to partner with 50 Cent on a lot of different things, too.

I’m trying to build my E.B. brand. People don’t really get who I am yet and don’t understand, and it’s really hard to find somebody who gets it. That’s why with 50 Cent, he’ll understand everything I’m trying to do. He’s such a great person.
