While she was busy on the West Coast announcing the American Music Awards nominations this week, she still found time to make little Sophia Grace’s dreams come true by surprising her on The Ellen Show.
Aside from spending her time being a dream maker, a covergirl and an all around superstar, she is already working on her sophomore album.

We caught up with Nicki as she announced the American Music Awards nominations this week and she gave us the scoop on her new album, as well as making her own dreams come true. Check out our exclusive below!
GlobalGrind: Last year at this time all you wanted was a platinum album. Well, somebody got their wish! What has this last year been like for you?
Nicki Minaj: It’s been a whirlwind, it’s been a blessing from God. My fans have really gotten me through it. They really have just supported me from the beginning. I’ve been doing mixtapes for the last five years, so it’s not like I just started rapping, it’s that I just started getting recognized for rapping. It’s a dope feeling. I forgot that all I wanted was a platinum album! See, dreams do come true, because I definitely have that platinum album plaque hanging on my wall at home right now.
We know you just did a song with little Willow Smith. Can you talk a little bit about that and what it was like working with her?
She’s just a cute little ladybug, shout out to Willow! I was supposed to do a record with her since I was on the Britney tour and our schedules just didn’t figure themselves out. When I came home, I promised that I would jump on it and I got in the studio and did it and I am really excited about it.
This last year you’ve had such incredible success here and also internationally. What is that like?
It feels amazing, when I went to London and they were acting like I was a big star, we were just cracking up laughing because they were outside in front of the hotel. Actually, we’re gearing up, as soon as the sophomore album comes out we’ll be going back on the road. There are so many countries that have been sending requests and I haven’t been able to go out there. That’s what I am really excited about right now. Just to be done with this recording process to get back on the road and go overseas.
What’s the journey been like for you to this point?
My journey has been up and down, lots of bumps on the road, but it’s been exciting. I really wouldn’t change a thing to be completely honest.
Are you working on your new album?
Yes, I am!

The new album is just giving me so much life and more importantly, I know my core fans and the world will really appreciate and recognize that I grew for this second album.
